What do you do before a performance? Not smoking a cigarette… anymore.
If you could play another instrument what would it be? Cello.
BIOGRAPHY Delphine Tissot began playing the violin at the age of 5 in Annecy, France. She continued her studies at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris under Jean Lenert and Pierre Doukan, eventually entering the viola class of Bruno Pasquier.
She played with the European Community Youth Orchestra from 1996 to 1997 and subsequently with the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchester, where she was made co-principal and principal viola.
Delphine served as an auxiliary musician beginning in 1999 with the Opéra National de Paris as well as the Berlin Philharmonic, where she performed in concerts, recordings, and on tour under such conductors as Claudio Abbado, Lorin Maazel, Seiji Osawa, Simon Rattle, and Daniel Barenboim. She also played with the BBC Symphony Orchestra and as assistant principal viola with the Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra.
She became a member of the Mahler Chamber Orchestra in 2002. In addition, she appears as guest principal viola in the Orchestra Ensemble Kanazawa in Japan, and performs regularly with Cadaques Orchestra, European Camerata, and Les Dissonances. Since 2009 she has also been a principal guest with Les Musiciens du Louvre and the Gran Canaria Philharmonic Orchestra.
