When and where was your first concert with the MCO?
My first concert with the MCO as an extra player was in November 1998 with Don Giovanni in Lyon.

What do you need to feel at home whilst on tour?
I only need a bit of sun and a good bed!!!!

What is the most difficult aspect of your job?
Planes, airports, packing suitcases, and restaurants everyday for every meal!!!

If you could play another instrument what would it be?
If I could....I would be a conductor!

Born in Altea (Alicante) in 1973, Júlia Gállego studied at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris with Alain Marion, Raymond Guiot, Sophie Cherrier and Vincent Lucas.

She was awarded with the Premier Prix de la Ville de Paris in 1994, the First Prize at the Montserrat Alavedra chamber music competition in 1994, the Premier Prix a l’unanimité du jury du C.N.S.M. de Paris in 1997 and the First Prize and Public Prize in the ARD Competition in 2001 with the Miró Ensemble.

Júlia Gállego is a former member of the Spanish Youth Orchestra (1992-1996) and the Gustav Mahler Jugend Orchester (1997-2001). From 1997 until 1999 she was appointed Principal Flute of the Oquesta Sinfónica de Tenerife and from 2001 until 2002 at the Orquesta Sinfónica de Galicia. In the past she has performed with orchestras such as the Rotterdams Philharmonisch Orchestra, Orchester des Hessischen Rundfunks
Frankfurt and the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks Munich.

As a chamber musician Júlia has appeared with musicians such as Gordan Nikolic, David Quiggle, Renaud Capuçon, Diemut Poppen, Frank Braley, Radovan Vladkovic, Jean M. Trotereau, Gerard Caussé, David Grimal, Claudio Martínez Menher and regularly performs at international festivals most recently in the U.S.A at the Charlottesville International Chamber Music Festival.

As a soloist  she has performed with the Orquesta Sinfónica de Tenerife, the Orquesta Ciudad de Granada, the Orquesta Sinfónica de Galicia, the Orquestra de Cadaqués, the Orquesta Sinfónica de Castilla y León, bandArt and St. George Strings.

Júlia Gállego is co-founder and principal flute of bandArt (Gordan Nikolic) and principal flute of Ensemble Les Dissonances and Orquestra de Cadaqués.

Since 2006 she is a teacher at the E.S.M.U.C. (Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya) and at the Conservatori Superior del LICEU in Barcelona.
