Jens Wernscheid
Jens Wernscheid // Communications Assistant

Jens Wernscheid has been working at the Mahler Chamber Orchestra since November 2007 as Communications Assistant. His tasks include general public relations work and overseeing the production of the print materials and the website.

Mr. Wernscheid studied musicology at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and at the Universität Hamburg. After completing his Bachelor’s degree, he went on to study at the Arts and Media Administration at the Institute for Culture and Media Management at the Free University Berlin. He completed his Master’s Degree in November 2007 with a thesis on “Innovative Marketing for the Arts Based on the Example of the Yellow Lounge.”

While still a student, Mr. Wernscheid held internships in the Dramaturgy Department of the Staatsoper Unter den Linden and the Development Department of the San Francisco Opera, among others. He worked as a freelancer in the Communications Department of the Berlin Philharmonic from May 2003 to May 2004, where he worked on the website and gave pre-concert lectures. Before Mr. Wernscheid began working at the MCO, he was a project assistant at the Forum Hochschulmarketing at the Free University Berlin from November 2005 to July 2007.

Mr. Wernscheid appreciates the internationality of the MCO and the freedom and independence that are made possible by the organisation’s innovative structure.
