Nina Brach has been working for the MCO since January 2008, and is in charge of the orchestra’s Development Department. Her responsibilities include liaising with the Friends of the MCO and the MCO Foundation, applying for private, institutional, and public sponsorship, networking, audience development, and organising special events.
Ms. Brach grew up in Lübeck, and moved to her favourite city, Paris, after finishing high school. There she held internships at the Château de Versailles and the Louvre. While studying culture management in Potsdam, she always made time to travel. In 2004/05, she spent half a year working at the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, where she had her first experiences with fundraising and development. The following summer, she held an internship at the Metropolitan Opera in New York, where she worked with the Friends of the opera.
Ms. Brach completed her degree in summer 2006 and began work at the press office of the Berlin Philharmonic. Working for the orchestra, with its established traditions, was an excellent opportunity for her to gather experience; she is now thrilled to be working for an organisation with newer traditions, where there is much new ground to cover and where she can continue to explore her interest in other countries and cultures. In her free time, Ms. Brach loves to dance and can most often be found in ballet studios and salsa bars.
And what fascinates her most about the MCO?
“Enthusiasm and engagement. All musicians and staff members, without exception, enter each project with enthusiasm and motivation and are fully committed to the work. Everyone is connected to the ideas and the attitude behind the MCO—it’s a wonderful orchestra and a very pleasant place to work!”
