As a former principal artist of the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Theatre in Moscow, Alexey Dolgov has performed many roles including, Rodolfo in La Bohème, Sergey in Shostakovich’s Moscow, Cheremushky, Ferrando in Cosí fan Tutte Lensky in Eugene Onegin, Edgardo in Lucia di Lammermoor, Walter Cratchmear in Weinberg’s The Passenger and Alfredo in La Traviata.
In 2008 he made a very successful US debut at the Washington National Opera singing the Duke in Rigoletto. That was quickly followed by singing Rodolfo in La Bohème at the Houston Grand Opera.
Last seasons engagements highlights include La Traviata with Los Angeles Opera and Teatro Municipale Giuseppe Verdi in Salerno; Eugene Onegin at Teatro Comunale Trieste; Verdi’s Requiem with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra under Daniel Harding in Stockholm & Brussels; the Rotterdam Proms with Alexander Shelley & Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra; plus a return to the Houston Grand Opera.
This season Alexey’s engagements outside of Moscow will include Cassio in Otello with Daniel Harding at the Baden-Baden Festival and on tour with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra (at Theatre des Champs Elysées Paris, Konzerthaus Dortmund and Philharmonie Luxembourg); Eugene Onegin on tour with the Bolshoi Theatre (Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Opera Lucerne International Music Festival, Teatro Real Madrid and Bolshoi Theatre Moscow); the title role in Roberto Devereux at the Opéra de Montréal, Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly at the Washington National Opera and Eugene Onegin at the Bolshoi Theatre.
Future seasons include Lucia di Lammermoor at the Washington National Opera; a new production of La Traviata and the Tsar’s Bride at the Bolshoi Theatre and Tancredi at the Deutsche Oper Berlin and regular appearances at the Bolshoi Theatre.
Alexey Dolgov began studying singing at the Novosibirsk State Conservatoire in 2001, under the tuition of Rimma Zhukova. Then, in 2002 he became a student of the Moscow Tchaikovsky State Conservatoire, where he studied with Zurab Sotkilava.
