Luca Pisaroni has already established himself as one of the most captivating singers of his generation. Since his debut at the Salzburg Festival with the Vienna Philharmonic under Nikolaus Harnoncourt at the age of 26, Mr. Pisaroni has performed to critical acclaim in opera, concert and recital appearances around the world.

Already commanding a diverse repertoire, Mr. Pisaroni has portrayed Figaro (Le Nozze di Figaro), Leporello (Don Giovanni) and Melisso (Alcina) at the Opéra Bastille, Figaro at the MET and the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, Guglielmo (Così fan tutte) for Glyndebourne, Alidoro (La Cenerentola) in Santiago de Chile, Achilla in Händel’s Giulio Cesare for La Monnaie in Brussels, Figaro, Douglas D’Angus in Rossini’s La Donna Del Lago and Hercules in Gluck’s Alceste at the Salzburg Festival, Publio (La Clemenza di Tito) for the Festival Aix-en-Provence, Leporello and Conte Dorval (Martin y Soler’s Il Burbero di Buon Cuore) at the Teatro Real in Madrid, Papageno (Die Zauberflöte) at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, a staged version of Bach's St. John's Passion at the Théâtre du Châtelet and Le Nozze di Figaro and Così fan tutte as part of the Nederlandse Opera’s Mozart/Da Ponte cycle.

In recent seasons Mr. Pisaroni has appeared as Il Re (Ariodante) at the Theater an der Wien, Ercole (Ercole Amante) with the Nederlandse Opera, Dido and Aeneas for the Wiener Festwochen and Tiridate (Radamisto) with the Santa Fe Opera. Of his Santa Fe Opera debut the Financial Times wrote, “
And one could hardly imagine a more vibrant villain than the bass Luca Pisaroni’s limber, gorgeously sung Tiridate.”

In concert, Mr. Pisaroni has performed Hasse’s I Pellegrini al Sepolcro di Nostro Signore at the Salzburg Whitsun Festival and Cherubini’s Missa Solemnis for the Maggio Musicale Florence under the baton of Riccardo Muti, Schumann’s Das Paradies und die Peri with Simon Rattle and the Philadelphia Orchestra in Philadelphia and at New York’s Carnegie Hall, Zebul in Händel’s Jephtha with the Berlin Philharmonic under Nikolaus Harnoncourt, M. Haydn’s Requiem in C minor under Ivor Bolton and Mozart’s Mass in C Minor under Mark Minkowski. He has sung Leporello with the Boston Symphony Orchestra in a concert performance of Don Giovanni at Tanglewood under James Levine. Furthermore he sang Piccinni’s Iphigénie en Tauride with the Orchestre National de France, Mozart’s Coronation Mass at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, J. Haydn’s Il Ritorno di Tobia with Adam Fischer at the Vienna Konzerthaus, J. Haydn’s L’Isola Disabitata (Enrico) with Nikolaus Harnoncourt at the Musikverein and Händel’s La Resurrezione with Emmanuelle Haïm on tour in
Europe.

After a successful summer in Salzburg returning in the title part in Le nozze di Figaro Mr. Pisaroni has begun the 2009/2010 season with Dido and Aeneas with the Nederlandse Opera under William Christie, followed by Figaro at the MET and a recital tour in North America including Carnegie Hall and Ravinia Festival. This season’s concert appearances include Beethoven’s 9th Symphony both with the New World Symphony under the baton of Michael Tilson Thomas and with Jaap van Zweden and the Dallas Symphony in a special concert to celebrate the grand opening of the new AT&T Performing Arts Center, Mozart’s Requiem with Yuri Termikanov for the Accademia di Santa Cecilia in Rome, Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis in Paris, Brahms’s Requiem under Edo de Waart and a tour of Händel’s La Resurrezione with Il Giardino Armonico. He will conclude the season singing Leporello in a new production of Don Giovanni in Glyndebourne under Vladimir Jurowsky.

His performances as Publio and Masetto at the Salzburg Festival are available on DVD, as part of the acclaimed ‘Mozart
22’ series on the Decca/TDK labels. Further DVD releases include his highly acclaimed portrayal of Guglielmo in Nicholas Hytner’s production of Così fan tutte in Glyndebourne and Le Nozze di Figaro at Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, conducted by René Jacobs. Most recently Mr. Pisaroni has recorded Händel’s La Resurrezione for Virgin Classics.

Raised in Verdi’s hometown Busseto (Italy), Luca Pisaroni received his musical education at the Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi in Milan, in Buenos Aires and in New York. He lives in Vienna with his wife Catherine and his golden retriever, Lenny.
